14 – 15 June, 2018, Ambassador (P) Gheorghe SAVUICA, President of IRSEA participated at the Annual Meeting of the European Alliance for Asian Studies in Torino.

On 14-15 June, 2018, Ambassador (P) Gheorghe SAVUICA, President of IRSEA, participated at the Annual Meeting of the European Alliance for Asian Studies (EA), which took place at the University of Torino, founded in 1404, being one of the largest and most prestigious Italian universities.

The host was Prof. Domenico Francavilla. Besides the UNIVERSITY OF TORINO and IRSEA, the participants represented the IIAS, NIAS, CATS, GIGA,, SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LANDON, GIS ASIE, CESEAS-LUND UNIVERSITY, ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE FEDERALE DE LAUSANNE, L’ORIENTALE, PALASKY UNIVERSITY OLOMOUC, JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY,UNIVERSITY OF COIMBRA,CRIA; Dept. Anthropology, IUL Lisboa, and UNIVERSITY OF VIENNA.  

The Annual Meeting had on its agenda important aspects regarding rethinking the European Alliance mission. New members joined the Alliance.  The new website of the Alliance was launched under the name Asia Scholars – https://asiascholars.eu.

The 11th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) - the most inclusive international gathering in the field of Asian Studies, which will take place in Leiden from 16-19 July 2019, captures the full attention of the Annual Meeting. All participants have agreed so that the Alliance be substantially involved in this great event of Asian Scholars. The Convention attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas

 ICAS 11 will be held at the Law Faculty Building of Leiden University. It will be organized by Leiden University, the International Institute for Asian Studies IIAS) and GIS Asie (French Academic Network on Asian Studies). Over 1500 Asia specialists and representatives of civil society are expected to attend.

IRSEA is ready to assist the participation at the vent by the Romanian interested Academic institutions having connections with Asian studies
